November 5; Introductory Grade 3;

Paddock Hill and Scarr Mountain; Stephen Pye (087 2583990)

Meeting time 09:45 for departure at 10:00

Starting point of walk is Trooperstown Wood car park – crossing the road (the R755 that leads into Laragh), the walk proceeds up a forest trail that leads one up Paddock Hill and then on to the ascent for Scarr mountain across open ground with good views of the surrounding countryside. Depending on weather and who turns up/walking experience, there may be an “add-on” of descending from Scarr, for a few hundred metres, in the direction of the trail that’s part of “the Scarr/Kanturk circuit” before re-ascending summit of Scarr and (regardless of whether we do the “add-on”) – returning to Trooperstown Wood car park by the route described above.
